Beautiful things

Found this painting in my Pinterest account, and it's attributed to Edmund Blair Leighton, but if you see his other work, like me you'll probably think....nope, not by him.  Looks more like Impressionist pointillism in a way, and from her clothes and the postman's outfit, I'm thinking it's later than Leighton's work. Wish I knew who painted it, because it's lovely.

Update:  Everywhere I look online, including an art site, says this is his work.  Just looks different than his medieval/fairytale like paintings.  Scratching my head.

Danish paintings

Two of my very favorite painters now are Carl Holsoe and Vilhelm Hammershøi.  Both Danish and oddly enough to me, brothers-in-law.  Take a look at these two paintings.

Similar, but the Holsoe is very fancy in relation to the one by Hammershøi.  I find this amazing.  Tell you what---open up two browser pages (Bonnie, I know you'll do this) and compare the work.  Amazing is the only word for it.  Same sorts of settings and manner of posing models.  Simply beautiful.  And what I'm showing you here just scratches the surface.
